The Dead Sea

A world famous treasure-trove of health and beauty since ancient times, the Dead Sea is an endless source of health-promoting and balancing elements. Rich in life enhancing minerals, the Dead Sea salts and mud have been acclaimed throughout the ages for their remarkably beneficial effect on the skin, hair and even on stressed nerves. The Dead Sea is situated on the Syrian-African fault, a geological phenomenon created some three million years ago during a great natural upheaval. Ancient layers of mineral-rich earth were exposed and salt water springs erupted forming a valley containing a closed lake 400 meters (1300 feet) below sea level - the lowest spot on Earth. Thousands of years of evaporation increased the levels of minerals and salts in this lake, known today as the Dead Sea.The composition of the Dead Sea is unique. It contains higher levels of magnesium, sodium, potassium, bromides, sulphates, strontium, zinc, boron, lithium and other minerals than all other bodies of salt water in the world, including the oceans.

These minerals all have an extremely positive effect on the body, improving cell metabolism, helping the body absorb nourishment, and eliminating toxins. In fact, medical research has determined that the unique blend of powerful minerals and salts found in the Dead Sea is highly beneficial for the relief of various skin problems, including Psoriasis and Eczema.

The main functions of the major minerals summarized hereafter

Potassium: Signs of potassium deficiency include abnormally dry skin, acne.

Strontium: Effective anti-itching properties Reduces the signs of irritant contact dermatitis - a significant problem for many people who regularly use cosmetics.

Zinc: Facilitates cell renewal Stimulates collagen and elastin synthesis Free radicals scavenger Improves sebo-regulation (anti-acne properties), Anti-inflammatory Protects against ultraviolet radiation.

Bromine: Relaxing and soothing effect.

Magnesium: Anti allergen especially for sensitive skin, a moisturizer and a cofactor for many enzymes for cell...

Sodium: Maintains osmotic equilibrium in extra-cellular fluid Improves the skin`s metabolism.

Boron: Helps to relieve the symptoms of psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis.

Lithium: Increases the effectiveness of balneotherapy for psoriasis.
